Ghostface Killah on Cryptocurrency

The rapper who once rapped “Cash rules everything around me” is making a move into the cryptocurrency arena. Dennis David Coles, aka Ghostface Killah, is dropping some of his new music as Bitcoin Ordinals, a type of Non-Fungible Token (NFT). He’s working with NakaPepes, Rare Scrilla, and OrdinalsBot for the minting process. Ordinals are unique data units inscribed directly onto the Blockchain, allowing holders creative commons zero rights to the content. Resource
While some hip-hop luminaries, such as Drake and Kanye West, have jumped into the cryptocurrency scene with ICOs (initial coin offerings), Ghostface Killah’s entry into this space marks an attempt to bring some of these new digital collectibles to the mainstream. He explains the project in this Twitter post:
NFTs are a trending way for artists to distribute their works, but it’s still a bit of a novelty to see a rapper try something like this out. The move could mark a new era for music distribution, or it could just remain a niche curiosity.

The Wu-Tang member co-founded a new start-up called Cream Capital, which is preparing for an ICO in November that will offer “Cream Dividend” tokens that can be exchanged for ether, the value token on the Ethereum blockchain. Cream Capital’s co-founder Brett Westbrook told Pigeons & Planes that Ghostface will serve as the company’s Chief Branding Officer and help to translate this rather high-brow technology to the mainstream. He believes he’s the best person to do so, considering that a few years ago, he was involved in an ICO of his own, backed by a legal weed company.
