Winterbloom is a collective of four successful, internationally touring singer-songwriters – Antje Duvekot, Anne Heaton, Meg Hutchinson and Natalia Zukerman. While carving their own paths in indie folk, Americana, pop and singer-songwriter music, each have celebrated one another’s accomplishments on the road, and fostered the spirit of collaboration back at home (at one time they all lived in Boston – Anne is now in Chicago, Natalia in Brooklyn).

Produced by Oisín Mac Diarmada of award-winning lrish group Téada, the hugely popular Irish Christmas in America show features top Irish musicians, singers and dancers in an engaging performance rich in history, humor and boundless energy. The 2011 tour features one of the most talked-about vocal acts to emerge from Ireland in recent times – Lumiere, comprising the talents of Sony recording artists Eilís Kennedy and Pauline Scanlon.

This family-friendly performance features evocatively-sung Irish ballads and holiday carols, lively fiddle tunes and thrilling Irish dancing. Narration brings to life ancient customs and stories, while photographic images provide a backdrop of rich historical context. What: Old Town School of Folk Music: “Each week a different teacher will bring in a handful of songs covering a theme, or an artist, or a genre. The experience is open to all levels and all instruments, so bring your friends or family to just hang out and sing. This is a wonderful opportunities to meet other players and folks who share your musical interests. On top of that you go home with at least a dozen songs! Hey, just because it says 6-string doesn’t mean you can’t bring 4 or 8 or 12! Heck, just come and sing!”

When: Fridays @ 6:30pm

Where: Old Town School of Folk Music @ 909 W Armitage Ave

How much: $5 admission!!
