Sheer Hair Genius
This year marks the true start of a new decade, and 2011’s fashion trends are all about revival. Designers are taking the beautiful styles of the 20th century and infusing them with a modern feel that’s cutting edge. This philosophy is dominating the hairstyles for 2011. And the best part: many of this year’s new hairstyles can save you some money with hair maintenance too.
Finding a hairstyle that suits you (and your lifestyle) can dramatically change the way you look and feel. The right style can make you look younger, boost your confidence, and help you make a major fashion statement. Whether you’re a woman, man, or child, the right hairstyle is very important! It should match your personality, career, lifestyle, body and face structure, hair texture and density, and skin tone, while being easy to maintain as well. This year’s new hairstyles offer many great options and a quality stylist can help find the right fit for you and your family.
HAIRSTYLES FOR THE MODERN MOM
Today’s mom is very busy and always on the go! Managing both work and home, sometimes we forget about ourselves. That’s why we need a great — but manageable — style.
SHORT HAIR
Short cuts are timeless! They are a great option for the busy woman who wants to look great and spend less time managing her hair. For example, one of the short cuts I like is a shaggy, very short “Bob.” The hair is tossed and natural with movement, and it doesn’t look tortured by a blow-dryer or straightening iron. The best candidates for this tousled shag are women with a natural wave.
I also like the “Pixie”, which has been seen recently on celebrities like Emma Watson and Michelle Williams. This cut works best on thick, wavy or straight hair, and looks great on women with heart-shaped, square, and oval faces. This spiky/edgy cut can make a statement and be extremely fun to wear at work and play.
MEDIUM LENGTH
Medium shoulder-length hair is very flattering and easy to style. Hair falls naturally with a soft bend. Side parted with just a few pieces coming onto the facial area is a sexy, yet still conservative, style that works beautifully with most face shapes.
For a more dramatic look, part the hair in the middle and add more layers. With the right products, this look can be unique and sexy!
My favorite is the medium “Bob” and it is back in style, but reinterpreted and re-imagined! The 2011 “Bob” sports longer length with a fringe/bang. It’s softer this year and retro inspired, infused with a 60’s tease and a sweet rounded shape.
LONG HAIR
This year’s long styles incorporate soft waves with volume and a lot of movement. Long hair gives us an opportunity to look sexy and sophisticated. Whether it’s tied in a knot or braided, long hair styling is endless (and fun).

HAIRSTYLES FOR THE MODERN DAD
Men’s hairstyles are easier to create and maintain than women. But such factors as age, style and face shape must still be considered. The 2011 dad can really wear anything, from crew cuts, to med-short tousled, to a variety of longer hairstyles. There are several styles that can fit the business world by day and transform to a trendy casual look for those relaxed fun times with the kids.

HAIRSTYLES FOR OUR LITTLE MUNCHKINS
Finding the right children’s hairstyle is usually focused on finding something that’s easy to manage, but looks cool too. Children usually show interest in caring for their own style early, so it’s important to show and explain some easy hair care tips.
FOR BOYS
For boys, crew cuts and short spikes are very popular with parents. They are easy cuts to take care of and very cute for those active young boys. Another popular and trendy style is the “Bieber” cut. Medium length hair is parted to one side and bangs fall towards the middle.

FOR GIRLS
As for our little girls, there are many great styles to choose from. But since most moms enjoy doing their daughters hair but are short on time, a simple style with cute little add-ons is a popular choice.
Short hair at chin length or shoulder length “Bobs” are easy and fashionable. Long, wavy or straight with bangs, the options are endless.

Tips for the whole family
Remember, a good one inch trim every eight weeks is a must!
Don’t forget about a healthy diet and creating good eating habits early — it all comes back to your hair, truly.
Hair and skin products should be suitable and specially formulated for kid’s gentle and sensitive skin.
We are very busy in today’s everyday life. But let’s not forget about our hair. After all, a good hair day is priceless, and a bad one, well, a sheer bummer (no pun intended).
