Live It – Love It
February is here. Wait, I just have to say that again. February is here. We did it, friends! We survived January and the post-holiday gift-returning, dessert-free, low-cal malaise. Congratulations!
I have to admit that at Families in the Loop we did more than just survive, however. We actually (How do I say this in the humblest way possible?) pretty much kicked January’s butt with our theme, New Year’s Revolution. We dished on tons of topics, from sex to health to developmental differences, with a little emergency preparedness, in-law relationships, and tax tips thrown in. What a great way to launch into 2012!
With January behind us, it’s now time to turn the lights down low, bust out the CVS vanilla-scented candle, crank up the romantic music mix on the family iPad, and get ready for FITL’s February theme, “Live It – Love It.” This month we’re reconnecting with our passions, discovering new ways to have fun with our families, and flaming the fires that may be burning a bit low mid-winter.
Fortunately, with our amazing February contributors, making parenthood fresh and fabulous has never been easier. AT&T has joined us here at Families in the Loop, and this month they’re sharing apps to heat up our Valentine’s Day. We’re also tackling cabin fever with the help of another amazing new friend, ALEX, while maximizing our moxie with hair tips from a senior stylist at Marianne Strokirk Salon and avoiding wardrobe malfunctions thanks to the fashion-forward gals at Julie Watson Style. Plus, we’ve got great ideas for V-Day food, fashion, and fun as well as tricks to make our closets and even our kids’ teeth sparkle and shine.
And wait until you see what we have in store for you on our Chicago Tribune blog. As a mom and business owner, I’m more than slightly familiar with the bumpy road to a career I love and all of its many seen and unforeseen potholes. And, like so many of us, I’m inspired to read about others who are achieving success in their chosen fields. That’s why we’ve asked some superstar Chicagoans at the top of their game to share how they fell in (and sometimes out) of love with their careers. Wait until you read these incredible “Live It Love It” stories. I get goose bumps just thinking about them.
So here we go, moms and dads. It’s time to infuse a little love into family life and to make this February the hottest ever. Are you ready to Live and Love parenthood and all of its endless possibilities?
Warmly,
Wendy Widom, CEO, Families in the Loop
