Big Fish Ball 2012, presented by Friends of the Chicago River

Friends of the Chicago River: ”

Who: Friends of the Chicago River supporters and guests — a prominent and diverse group of corporate, civic, and community leaders. Illinois Governor Pat Quinn and Mark Falanga, President, Merchandise Mart Properties, Inc. are the 2012 Big Fish Ball’s Honorary Chairs along with Barbara Morse-Quinn as the Gala Event Chair.

What: Elegant outdoor dining, river-inspired festivities, wild guests, and an after-party boat cruise are this year’s event highlights. The breathtaking city skyline is the backdrop. From a dramatic venue along the river to a program line-up that will wow and inspire guests, the Big Fish Ball is always one of the most unique and fun benefits in Chicago.

Why: For three decades, Friends of the Chicago River’s award-winning programs have helped create a greener, more accessible, and better cared for river. Big Fish Ball proceeds will:
• Enable Friends to facilitate improvements to the Chicago River’s ecological health;
• Assist our progress towards making it a corridor of accessible, valued open space; and,
• Help us build the broad base of popular support for the river that is critical to the long term success of efforts to improve it. ”

Wiggleworms Wednesdays, presented by Brookfield Zoo

Brookfield Zoo tells us…

In celebration of XTREME BUGS join us for a free kid’s bug-sized concert every Wednesday morning this summer at 10:00 a.m. Musicians from the Old Town School of Folk Music’s Wiggleworms program will entertain our youngest little critters in a fun-filled sing-a-long at the Nature Stage. This interactive show will have kids singing and buzzing around to popular children’s favorites as well as the occasional catchy original.  Meant to encourage parents to get involved as well, this will be a fun time for the whole swarm!

Since 1985, the Old Town School of Folk Music’s celebrated early childhood music program has welcomed young children and their families to the world of music. Early childhood is the perfect time for exposing children to the language of music. Throughout the Wiggleworms program, young children and their families enjoy musical time together and develop a lifelong love for making music.

Plus, kids can enjoy making a garden worm using Sculpey® III product during the event.
