Kids Consignment: Easier Than Ever

We at Families in the Loop are gaga over Babies, Tots n’ More, Chicago’s first and only seasonal consignment and boutique overstock event company. Where else can you have someone not related to you advertise, display, and sell all of the toys, gear and clothes your children have outgrown? And here’s the best part: you can now earn 50%-70% of the profits without even being there!

Their next consignment event will take place Aug. 31-Sept. 1 at Lil’ Kickers. To make it as easy as possible for busy moms and dads to clean out their kids’ closets while making some mullah, they’ve created a new and awesome tagging service that does most of the work for you.

How It Works:

1. Register as a consignor for their upcoming sale and sign their electronic consignor agreement. All rules, limitations, and privileges apply.

2. Collect and clean all items that you want to sell.

3. Drop your items off at the tagging service providers house at least three weeks before the start of the sale.

4. Pick up unsold items during consignor pick-up on Saturday, September 1 or choose to donate them to charity.

5. Receive a check for 50% of the profit from the sale of your items, minus a $10 participation fee for Babies, Tots n’ More and a $15 service fee (to cover the cost of supplies) for the tagging service provider. Checks are delivered within two weeks of the event.

To use the tagging service, email busymomstagging@gmail.com. Hurry, as they accept only a limited number of consignors. The deadline to participate in the fall event is August 16, 2012.

Guidelines, Straight from the Gang at Babies, Tots n’ More

Please make sure to check through the accepted items list and bring only those types of items to sell. Clothing has to be seasonally appropriate.

When you select items to consign with us, ask yourself if you would buy them. If you would not buy them as they are, please don’t bring them to us. We want to make sure that you sell all of your items.

Clothing must be folded and in containers. You are limited to 200 clothing items and 50 non-clothing items and 10 pair of shoes. If you have multiple-piece outfits to be sold as sets, please fasten all pieces together with safety pins or they will be priced separately. We will not accept clothing items stuffed in garbage bags.

Please provide an estimated number of items you plan to consign and let us know if you have oversized items such as pack n plays, swings, high chairs, bicycles, play houses, or outdoor play equipment.

Let us know whether you will be donating or picking up your unsold items.

Your Tagging Service Provider (TSP) will provide up to 100 hangers and all safety pins for your items. If more than 100 hangers are needed, a fee of $0.20 per hanger will be applied. All electronic items must be in working order and include working batteries. If batteries need to be replaced by the TSP, $0.50 – $1.50 per battery will be charged to the consignor, depending on the size of the battery. A detailed expense report will be provided.

Your TSP will hang, tag, and price all items at her discretion. Items will be priced to sell, and all items will be marked to go 50% off. Changes to this rule will be up to the discretion of your TSP. A review of the pricing will be provided before the items are tagged, and you can respond with changing suggestions. You must respond within 48 hours; otherwise we’ll assume that you approve our pricing. Your TSP will transport all your items to the sale location. You will have to pick up all unsold items at the sale location during our designated pick up time after the sale, or you can choose to have your items donated to our charity.
